| Ayse Bugra and Osman Savaskan’s book is a timely intervention in the debate around the role of Islamic capital fractions in the establishment and maintenance of the political hegemony of the Justice and Development Party (JDP) in Turkey. The book seeks to go beyond existing accounts on the relation between the Islamic business groups in Turkey and the JDP government by showing the complex and multidimensional structure of the business activity in its cultural, economic and political aspects (p. 1).
