| In today's world, railway transportation efficiently carries numerous passengers and large quantities of cargo in a short time, safely. Therefore, railway transportation is rapidly developing in Türkiye. Due to the comfort and safety of railway transportation, its preference has increased, leading to accelerated investments in railways. Türkiye is located on active fault lines. Especially, existing railway lines are within active earthquake zones, facing a significant earthquake risk. The rapidly developing railway transportation should be designed according to parameters such as comfort and safety, considering passenger demand, and necessary measures should be taken for earthquakes. The aim of this paper is to examine the risks posed by earthquakes on railways, a natural disaster, and propose appropriate measures to mitigate these risks. In this context, a mapping study was conducted within the scope of the work, including existing railway lines and active fault lines in Türkiye. |
