Özet
In this study, some technical properties needed in engineering design of furniture of some solid wood were determined. Oriental beech (Fagus Orientalis Lipsky), Scotch pine (Pinus Sylvestris Lipsky), Oak (Quercus Borealis Lipsky), Chestnut (castanea sativa) and Walnuts (Junglans Regia) were used as solid wood materials. In this scope, the physical properties that included moisture content and density, and mechanical properties that included tension, compression, shear, bending strengths, and modulus of elasticity values of the wood materials were determined. Furthermore, allowable design (safety) stress values were calculated for solid wood by utilizing safety factors used the currently literature and prepared a systematially data base for furniture designers.
