Özet
Porphyran is a sulfated polysaccharide obtained from red algae (Porphyra spp.). Porphyran is seen as a versatile and sustainable biopolymer that can be used as a composite material in green water treatment applications. Because it has many hydroxyls, sulfate, and carboxyl groups, porphyran is expected to be favorable as a base biopolymer for adsorption, ion exchange, and chemical modification during processing, and for the removal of dyes, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals in wastewater. This review highlights recent developments in porphyran's synthesis, structural modification, and hybridization with inorganic nanoparticles, biopolymers, and carbonaceous materials for enhanced adsorption capacity, selectivity, and reusability.
